INFORMATION and Communication Technology (ICTs) sector is one of the key enablers that promotes and benefits the Zambian economy, says Minister of Transport and Communications, Mutotwe Kafwaya.
Mr Kafwaya said as government in its Vision 2030 was clear that it wanted Zambia to become a middle-income country with ITCs as a great enabler.
Mr Kafwaya was speaking yesterday at the official opening of a new store for Liquid Telecom at East Park Mall in Lusaka.
He expressed happiness that as government it was gratifying to see ICTs expand in the private sector.
“Government is happy that Liquid Telecom has opened a store aimed at bringing their services closer to the people and creating job opportunities which are key to the economy of this nation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Liquid Telecom Zambia CEO Susan Mulikita said as internet provider, it recently re-launched its retail brand and opening a new store was one way of bringing its services closer to the people. “As Liquid Telecom we have recently re-launched its retail brand and we have opened a new store at East Park Mall so that we can bring our services closer to the people that we interact with and also consider them as our partners,” she said
