MUKWIMA CHILALA writes
FORMER Power Dynamos golden boy Mukuka Mulenga’s return to his childhood side has hit a snag after both parties failed to conclude a deal for the player’s come back.
Mulenga had earlier this week been spotted training at Arthur Davies stadium, the home ground of Power, with a possible move of joining his childhood side.
The club has however told the Sun sport that the talks had stalled because the two parties could not agree on personal terms.
According to a statement from the Power media department the 26-year-old midfielder actually approached the club to try and strike a deal to rekindle his career.
“Former Power Dynamos midfielder Mukuka Mulenga approached the club to be given an opportunity to rekindle his football career but the two parties could not find a common ground regarding personal terms,” reads part of a statement
According to sources, Mulenga wanted K150, 000 as a signing on fee but the club felt it was a bit too high hence the deal could not materialize.
After failing to secure a return to the club where he rose to stardom more than five seasons ago, Mulenga has since started training with Power’s rivals, Nkana.
Mulenga who was nicknamed ‘Deco’ was a key of Power that won its last league title in 2011.
He was voted super league ‘Player of the Year’ in 2012 and was also instrumental in Zambia’s 2013 COSAFA Cup title win under Herve Renard where he however picked up a career threatening injury during the same tournament.
He then made his switch to the South Africa PSL joining Mamelodi Sundowns.
At Sundowns Mulenga struggled to establish himself and was sent out on loan to Bloemfontein Celtic for the 2014/15 season.
In 2016 he was again sent on loan to Mpumalanga Black Aces (now Cape Town City) having been deemed surplus to requirements at Sundowns.
The Midfield ace has been without a club since leaving Sundowns, with media reports now rife that he could be headed for Nkana during this transfer season window.
