No favours – Micho

Chipolopolo coach says players must respect his authority

ZAMBIA National Soccer team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic says he will not favour any players when making selections for national team assignments.

Micho said his aim is to establish authority of justice where players will be selected based on how they perform as preparations for the 2022 Afcon qualifiers resume.

He said no players has a right to claim a position at the national team because players need to earn their national team call ups by working hard for their respective clubs.

He urged players to appreciate that they are under public scrutiny and therefore needed to improve on their skills continually.

He said that his technical bench would sweep through the country where they scout for under-23 players that will be pitted against the CHAN team.

“We shall have visitation to the provinces where we shall build capacities of technical staff and secondly; we shall make an Under-23 squad of young players from the provinces that will make the provincial teams which will later play against our CHAN team so that we can recognize and see whether there are players we have missed on the local level,” Micho said.

“We have two targets with Zambian footballers to establish authority of knowledge and the second is authority of justice where no player will be favoured, no player has the right to say I’m there, you are not there.

“You need to earn and deserve and that is my obligation of justice towards all the supporters and can assure you that this will happen exactly,” he said.

Micho said Zambia possesses everything it takes to qualify for the Afcon, after missing it two times but there is need to encourage the players to work hard to be able to deliver when the qualifiers resume in November.

“It will be difficult, we are fighting competitive advantage ahead of our opponents Botswana if we want to achieve something needs to change. Time ahead of us looks like ample but it is not enough

Micho hailed foreign stars Enock Mwepu, Patson Daka (both Red Bull Salzburg), Emmanuel Banda and Edward Chilufya (IF Djurgardens) who have continued to impress in Europe.
