THREE men have been arrested by police for impersonating public officers and swindling drug store operators of Kapiri Mposhi out of thousands of Kwacha.
The three were reported to have been going round drug stores in Kawama and Tazara compounds posing as enforcement officers from the Zambia Medicine Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) and demanding from each drug store operator a K3, 000 as payment for a licence.
According to police sources the suspects had in their possession fake identity cards for Zambia Police, Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and ZAMRA at the time of their arrest.
More fake IDs from other public institutions bearing different names but carrying the suspects’ portraits were also recovered from them
Police sources have confirmed the development to ZANIS but referred all queries to DEC Public Relations Manager, Theresa Katongo who however could not be immediately reached by press time for a comment.
