THE Zambia Body Building and Fitness Federation (ZBBFF) says it intends to start regulating all gyms in Zambia to make them affiliates to the mother body.
ZBBFF general secretary Chimuka Hamabele said the federation was looking at regulating all the existing gyms in Zambia as they all fell under the jurisdiction of the fitness body. Hamabele said that ZBBFF would work hand in hand with the sports council in regulating and making sure that the fitness centres affiliated with the federation.
He further said that the federation would also collaborate with Patents and Company registration Agency (PACRA) so as to regulate issuance of certificates to gyms.
And Hamabele said that 2019 was challenging on the part of sourcing for funds and his federation was looking at ways of making the body self- sustaining rather than just waiting and depending on Government funding.
“Obviously this year we are looking at ways of making the Federation self- sustaining through hosting of min competitions as a way of raising money ,’’
“We will also embark on an initiative to regulate all the gyms and fitness centres in Zambia so that they could affiliate with us and will work hand in hand with the Sports Council and PACRA in regulating gym registration,” Hamabele said.
Hamabele said his body would in March revise its entire constitution during its annual general meeting (AGM) as the document had a lot of lacunas.
He said that they would involve some stakeholders in revising the whole document that guided the body building federation.
And ZBBFF has described the 2019 as success which also marked its executive one year in office.
