A TRIP to collect animal feed nearly cost Chirundu Mushungu ward Councilor Ben Munsaka life after his light Dyna truck hit into a cow and overturned on his return journey.
Mr Munsaka was returning from Siavonga district where he went to get some grass to feed his cattle when he met his fate
He however escaped unhurt when his light truck went off the road near Mutolanganga Bridge on Siavonga -Chirundu Road around 22:30 last night.
Speaking to the Sun in an interview yesterday, Mr Munsaka said he was only feeling some minor body pains and had gone back to Mtendere Mission Hospital for a review as advised when he went there last night.
Mr Munsaka regretted the incident and advised those with cattle to lock up their animals in kraals during the night to avoid loss of lives and damage to property.
Meanwhile residents of Chirundu have called on the council to come up with a by-law that would help control cattle loitering in the streets.
Mr Luyando Hatweembe said the local authority and the Livestock Department had only been issuing warning statements but did not act so that those with cattle could learn a lesson.
