FAZ is not sure whether the Austria-based U-23 duo Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu will feature for the games outside the FIFA calendar week at the Africa Cup of Nations which starts next week in Egypt.

FAZ communications manager Mwazi Chanda said that the association had been in touch with Mwepu and Daka’s team over the release of the duo.

Speaking when she featured on Millennium Radio Bola review programme on Monday, Chanda said that Mwepu and Daka would be available for the second game which fell on the FIFA calendar.

She said coach Chambeshi had selected the best players at his disposal and that the team was ready for the tournament which would also act as an Olympic qualifier.

Meanwhile the first batch of foreign-based players have started joining the squad in Egypt with Sweden-based Edward Chilufya having arrived on Monday evening while Emmanuel Banda  also joined camp in the early hours of yesterday.

Chilufya joined camp on the back of winning the league title in Sweden with his club Djurgardens.

According to Chanda, Chambeshi took the team through a rigorous training session at Al Nasr Sports Club in Cairo.

The local assemblage of players arrived in Cairo on Sunday evening and got down to business with preparations ahead of the tournament.

Zambia will open its campaign on Saturday with a tie against South Africa before facing Nigeria three days later.

In the final Group B tie, Zambia will engage Ivory Coast on November 15.

Top three teams at the AfCON will qualify to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
