CONSTRUCTION works of Greg Lungu Road in Jack Township have been abandoned due to Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company9LWSC) delays to relocate water pipes.
Kamulanga ward nine councillor Jonas Phiri said the development had raised concerns among people of the area who wanted to know why works had stalled.
Mr Phiri said that people who built their houses near the road were ordered to demolish their structures but failure by LWSC to relocate the water pipes had forced Avic International to abandon the works.
He said that another road which had been abandoned was the leading to Kamulanga Clinic after it was half way done.
“Works have been abandoned due to LWSC delay to relocate pipes, this has raised concerns among the people of Kamulanga Ward.
“Another road which has been abandoned due to the same reason is the Kamulanga clinic road which was done halfway,” he said
Mr Phiri has since appealed to LWSC to up their works, adding the road will become bad now with the onset of rains.
He however commended Avic International for the works it was doing in the area as it was also ready to complete the two roads.
