GOVERNMENT is yet to receive a technical report on the Zambia National Soccer Team’s dismal performance in the just-ended 2019 soccer calendar that saw the team also fail to qualify to the AfCON.

Sports Minister Emmanuel Mulenga said that his ministry had given FAZ up to the end of the week to avail a report on the National team’s performance.

And the Minister said that his Ministry had not yet received a report on how FAZ had gone in its recruitment process of the National Soccer team coach.

Mulenga said the ministry would wait for the Association to conclude the process and report back to them as they did not want to be seen to be interfering in the running of soccer.

‘’ At the moment I have not received a report regarding the shortlisted coaches, not until in I receive that report that’s when I can be able to make a comment, because we don’t want to be cited for interference,’’ Mulenga said.

And we are still waiting for them to give us a technical report, we wrote to the (FAZ) two days ago because we need to know why the team is not performing well and we need to tell the Zambians exactly what went wrong because the money we spend on the team belongs to the Zambians .

Mulenga said that tax money ought to be used prudently and that the one paying it needed to know how the money was been used.

The Minister had since given FAZ up to the end of this week to respond to him regarding the technical report.

The Zambia National Team last year recorded mixed results that saw the team fail to qualify to the 2019 AfCON and later start the 2021 qualifiers on a rocky note with the team losing its first two games to Algeria and Zimbabwe respectively.
