A MAN of Choma will spend 18 months behind bars for stealing electrical appliances and two cell phones worth K1, 925.
This was in a matter in which the Choma Magistrate Court found Alex Malawo,23 guilty after he admitted the illegal entry and theft charge.
Particulars of the offence are that Malawo on h October 26, 2019 entered the house of Christabel Chimeza and stole two cell phones, 1 DVD player and a decoder all valued at K1,925.
According to the facts by Public Prosecutor Pearson Chilumbu when the matter came up before Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri, the theft happened when the Chimeza had left her home to visit a friend in the nearby township.

Malawo: No, everything is correct.
Court: On your confirmation of the facts to be true and correct, I find you guilty for the offence and convict you accordingly.

Malawo asked for forgiveness over his mistake but Magistrate Phiri sentenced him to 1 year 6 months with hard labour as a deterrent measure to would-be offenders.
