A LUSAKA man has told the Magistrates Court that his truck worth K250, 000 was stolen by a person who hired it.
Before Magistrate Kate Sakwanda was Vincent Sakala who alleged that Gabriel Kayati stole his truck in April 2019.
Sakala told the court that he received in a call in April from Mr. Richard Sikombe the person who hired his truck.
He said later Mr. Sikombe told him that the truck was stolen from Northgate police station where he had parked it.
Sakala said Mr. Sikombe told him that he employed Kayati as a driver at the time the truck went missing.
He said the two of them went to report the matter to the police and the truck was recovered from the person Kayati sold it to but was in a bad state.
He said the person who bought the truck removed most of the parts because he deals in spare parts and the vehicle could not move.
He said he wanted to settle the matter out of court but Kayati’s relatives were not willing to discuss.
The matter comes up on February 4 for continued trial.
