SOUTHERN Province health sector has made huge strides with the completion 66 of the 99 health posts allocated to the region, says Patriotic Front (PF) provincial Information and publicity Secretary Trymore Mwenda.
Mr Kumwenda said the completed health posts were now waiting for commissioning so that people could access their needed health services. He said the health projects were spread across the 13 districts of the province, which meant that the challenges of walking long distances to clinics which in the past resulted in some people especially women delivering or dying on the road was tackled would be a thing of the past.
In a statement Mr Mwenda said Southern Province PF Chairman Evans expressed his excitement that they had not been left behind as a province in terms of health sector development.
He said, they have had a good share of the development spreading across the Zambia like bush fire and was certain a lot more was coming under the tenure of President Lungu beyond 2021.
“This development included upgrade works of maternity annexes, mothers shelters and staff houses at various health centres in Choma, Monze, Mazabuka, Chikankanta, Zimba, Livingstone, Kalomo and Pemba districts where Government has spent a total of K 4, 586. 542,
