THE Chibombo Multi-Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ) is to attract more foreign investors, says contractor, Jiangxi United Industrial Investment Limited general manager Xu Jianfeng.
Mr Xu said the over 2, 300hectares project would be done in two phases with the first being the industrial park followed by a central business district. He said once completed it would attract about 30 international companies, micro, medium and small enterprises.
Mr Xu said the project aimed at building a platform for foreign and local investors in a bid to develop the agro-processing industry in Zambia.
Speaking in an interview with the Sun, Mr Xu said the MFEZ would include factories, houses, and a five-star hotel with offices that would sit on 20, 000 square meters of land.
“The Chibombo MFEZ will attract more investors to Zambia and help develop the agro-processing industry and would be open to the local market,” says Mr Xu
Mr. Xu said currently, they were working on 150 hectares of land and had so far constructed access tarred roads within the area, adding that about 200 jobs had been created of which 64 percent have gone to the locals.
He has commended the Zambian government for creating an enabling
